Rick Cummer serves as Chief Financial Officer at Tertium Development, where he leads the accounting and finance function, including team development, policy and procedure design, and financial reporting. With more than 30 years of experience across finance, manufacturing, and service industries, Rick brings a well-rounded background that spans public accounting, entrepreneurship, and corporate leadership.

Rick has a proven track record of improving financial performance and building scalable systems that support long-term growth. His expertise includes contract analysis, debt restructuring, and the implementation of tools that streamline accounting and reporting processes. Known for his practical, steady leadership style, Rick believes effective finance starts with clear communication, strong teamwork, and an understanding of how financial decisions affect people as well as numbers.

Prior to joining Tertium, Rick spent roughly half of his career in public accounting, primarily with a top-five national firm, where he specialized in manufacturing and construction clients. He has also founded and successfully sold multiple businesses and held senior financial roles at a large national service company backed by private equity.

Rick has extensive experience selecting and implementing ERP systems and has led financial due diligence for numerous acquisitions. He has overseen post-acquisition integration of systems and financial reporting and managed relationships with external accountants, legal counsel, and banking partners.

Raised in the Dubuque area, Rick holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and an MBA from Drake University. He is married and has three children—one daughter and two sons. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and watching sports.
